America 2002 - Part I

Thinking back to a little road trip we took 7 years ago. It was a 10,053-mile road trip in a two-door "coop" which we slept in more nights than not over four weeks. 

Our map started in Seattle, WA and took us to Niagra Falls, NY (throught the Big Apple, of course), down to Pensacola, FL over to Los Angeles, CA and then making a quick stop in St. Anthony, ID before heading back to the Puget Sound.

One of our biggest treats was climbing up to the Hollywood sign, climbing under the fence, and chillin' at the big white letters watching the helicopters fly overhead (this was before the advance alarm set up the city has now).

This image was shot on old-school 1600-speed film in the middle of a sunny day - love that grain!



These next two pages are especially groovy and extremely special to me because we documented our ENTIRE trip with an old Polaroid 101 Land Camera, placing the images in a photo-journal as we went. Here are a couple shots from Hollywood, CA taken off the journal pages:

Procrastinating

OK, so today I woke up completely unmotivated to takle the paperwork in the shape of Mt. Everest all around my work station. You know that scene in Close Encounters of the Third Kind where Richard Dreyfuss makes a mountain out of mashed potatoes? Yah, that's the situation of my paperwork at this moment.

In addition to facing that daunting task, it's Friday and I've been sitting at the computer all week and my eye balls are wigging out from staring HTML code on the monitor.

I decided to take action and get myself motivated! To push through the afternoon lump-hump I took the dogs down to the beach to get some fresh air and exercise. 

Here are a few images I took of our adventure before I got really mad at them for taking off a mile down the beach (do you know how hard it is to run top speed in rain boots in the sand for a mile?)

Real Weddings: Arturo & DeeBritt, I

There are moments in life where I feel so happy to be a part of something so special, so big, so amazing, so indefinable and yet so completely full of love. That is the only way I know how to describe my experience of being a part of Arturo and DeeBritt's wedding in Chicago, Illinois.

When we first met Arturo and DeeBritt we knew they were one of those amazing couples who have that "special something" and we were completley excited to have the opportunity to capture their connection together with our cameras during their engagement session in our Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago, IL. We were head over heels for how Arturo and DeeBritt's love "sparked on film".

Cut to October in the Windy City... Holy Family Parish is one of the best examples of Victorian Gothic architecture in the country and was in exceptional condition for a wedding. I can't describe the grand beauty of this church, except that I felt as if I stepped straight into Rome. We hope that we captured just a piece of the beauty in our images. Ditto for the detail Arturo and Deebritt put into their reception. We hope that the images we captured share the bright joy and flavor of their celebration of love!
